If you want a more cloth like sleeve then I would go with a Lutro0s paracord. The mdpc sleeving is excellent but it is a plastic sleeve which I think is the opposite of what you want. Also Lutro0s will cost you less amd paracord is typically cheaper and you are not having to pay for the shipping from germany.

It appears that the mdpc sleeving has a tighter weave when expanded slightly by using a flat thread (think sata cable flat vs. single round wire) as the main shell in the weave. I'm pricing it out now to see what it would run (along with shipping) to re-sleeve my cables.

As for the paracord option... it looks nice and is definitely the "softer" look I'd like. However, with the extra work needed.. I might just say screw it, buy my own 16/18/20AWG wire in white, crimper, and connectors and make my own cables so they are sleeved and the exact lengths I want. No extra cable length to have to "manage".

It's really a time v money debate at this point smile.gif

So a quick update:

I'm waiting for some parts to arrive to re-sleeve the cabling. I'm also going to switch out the fans to Swiftech Helix 140's. The NZXT's are fine and all but the Swiftech's are quieter.

In the meantime, I did some case work. I was test fitting some tubing for the length between the fill port and the reservoir and noticed that the pre-made hole in the Switch case was just a hair too big. Luckily some creative use of washers with a 3/4" inner diameter fit just perfect and solved the issue.

I also needed to install a switch for the sound module inverter & EL wire. I'm not going to want it on all the time so some sort of external switch was needed. I got a rocker switch:

and soldered up some wires to the molex pass through:

Now for the fun part. I needed to drill the case so we'll need measurements of the inner body of the switch. An even 19mm made it pretty easy to use another 3/4" washer to draw the hole guide and start drilling pilots.

Once the pilots were drilled it was time to bust out the dremel cutter. Did anyone else see the movie Evolution? biggrin.gif

After a bit of fine-tuning of the hole to accomodate the protrusions on the cylinder (that prevent the switch from spinning once installed) it snapped in just perfectly. Nice and solid.

Next up: running the LED light string in the case and installing cable clamps on the backside for cable management. Oh, and taking apart the NZXT Mesh fan controller and painting it.

Finished the Sentry Mesh fan controller painting. I initially tried to remove the mesh from the plastic backing but it was kind of a pain. Luckily the front plate the mesh is attached to comes fully off so I could just paint the entire plate (and not just the mesh) without worrying about masking off the breadboard.

Now just waiting on my last few parts to arrive... *sigh*

In between work with the heatsink I put the EL Wire lighting on to motherboard. It's a ***** to make straight lines with it but I got fairly close.

And here's what it looks like when on:

Now I'm going to go hunt easter eggs and paint the PCI covers.

Oh wow, I hadn't seen yours before. That's some awesome work!

How the hell did you manage to keep the EL wire so straight though? I swear to god that was the hardest part of the whole thing.

Hrm. Do you have any closeups of the EL wire glued in place? I debated between hot glue and Cyanoacrylate (superglue) and went with the super glue. Because the EL wire is on top of the motherboard cover the Cyanoacrylate dries clear and isn't visible. I worried that if I used hot glue you'd be able to see the beading. But as you may have noticed, keeping a straight line with super glue is more difficult.

If you have some closeup pics I may be convinced into ripping the EL wire out and redoing it with hot glue if it looks like I'll get better results with where I'm attaching it smile.gif
