Which 7950 do I get?

Thread Starter
So I am in the process of getting a buyer for my 560 TI and plan on pulling the trigger on a 7950 boost.

So the cash limit is 320 usd, leaning hard to sapphire on this but don't know much between the 2L and 3L models, I've read that the 3L is voltage locked and the 2l is not and has better cooling.....

SUGGESTIONS/ADVICE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

I'm no expert but maybe my opinion can help..

I would start with picking the best clocks vs money, meaning the cheapest card with the highest clocks ( and potential OC abilities, some are better then others of course )
After this pick the style/brand you like, some have very efficient coolers, some have loud noisy cooler that really aren't efficient.

I wish I could give you stats on cards vs card but I can not:)! hopefully another does

wish you best of luck mate! only advice I can give you thats %100 fact is spend more time researching than buying! Whether its a a few days or a few weeks, take your time, you might come across a review or some information that will allow you to either make or not make a purchase because of it smile.gif

I would go with the 7950 Vapor-X. Very good overclocking card. Or the MSI 7950 TFIII

I'd go with this one hands down http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161420

I have it and it's quiet and cool also clocks very nice as well. Excellent 3 year warranty with top notch RMA service.

I went with the Gigabyte, myself. Removing the reference cool and installing the ACTRIC Accelero Hybrid 7970 Exptreme, though. tongue.gif

Looks like the difference is in the connectors

3l
1 x HDMI (with 3D)
1 x DisplayPort 1.2
1 x Single-Link DVI-D
1 x Dual-Link DVI-I

2l
1 x HDMI
2 x Mini DisplayPort
1 x DVI

Source -read from Newegg

Here is a thread on OCN about the 3l.

It* would appear the 3l is unlocked from the OCN thread.. but I didn't read it all the way through.

*stars the edit!

That $320 he wants to spend might already be $20 more than the $300 budget. if that was the case it would just be $50 more and if that just $70 more

I understand what the OP is doing and its not fun limiting yourself to a product on a budget so he has to make best with what he wants to spend vs can spend

@OP you should pick a card you really like, performance wise and then start comparing it with competitors within budget smile.gif
http://www.gpureview.com/ this site might help with some form of benchmark results and what not
