I have the option to buy a ATI Radeon HD 7870 VTX3D because it seems to have 5 video outputs.

I could go for another 7870 but there are few that make it to 5 monitors.

I'm not so much interested in Eyefinity and 3D as I am interested in extended desktops and 2D.

I'm not saying I wouldn't game, just that a priority would be multitasking.

I've seen reviews that mention the high power consumption. This is what took me off the Tahiti version, much as its performance looks amazing, because its power consumption is off the charts high.

In the comparison I read on a review site, the 7870 consumed a lot of power on multi monitor setups, but I assumed they meant 2 monitors.

Can anyone give examples of the amount of power draw of multi monitor setups, both in Eyefinity and Extended Desktop?

That's what I want to ask.

Because I'm getting a 3770K with 16gb RAM, and a 7870, and I'm uncertain of what PSU to get.

I feel on the one hand that 5 extended desktops could be as consuming as Crossfire, maybe more, maybe less, I don't know. And the doubts go between being satisfied with a 750W PSU all the way to feeling the need to get a 1000+ W PSU.
