[AI]Apple now offering iMacs with built-in VESA mount adapters for $40 premium - Page 2

I just paid like $15 a piece for Bitspower compression fittings, perhaps we can start a thread about how they're overpriced too.

Asks a legitimate question about Apple, must be bashing.

This is awesome news! I absolutely love my iMac and this is a great feature. If it was available at the time, I probably would have gotten it.

The only "problem" I see is that they don't appear to offer the stand, even separately. Also, I think being able to use the standard stand, would be a huge benefit as well. That way, people could buy the VESA mount version and later if they change their mind, could always go back to the traditional mount.

And I have no idea where you are pulling the $3k+ from...sure, if you add 64GB of ram, who the hell is going to do that? Standard iMac's range from $1,300-2k. Get real.

just so OCN knows, Apple has sold VESA mount kits separately for $40 in the past to mount their older iMacs. This comes now preinstalled at no extra charge (on top of the $40).

this is also no different than Samsung and their ToC LCD displays that had no VESA mounts on the back. You could buy a separate kit from them for wall mounting.

Yes, but people mounting these are most likely not intending them to use a stand at all. It's surprising that you're surprised at all.

$40 is a perfectly acceptable price for a VESA mount. Good to see them actually using a standard for once.

$15 for a complex 2 piece part vs $40 for a simple piece of aluminum

Truth be told, I don't really look at Apple computers much, and the biggest surprise to me in this whole thread is that the iMac doesn't ALREADY have 4 threaded VESA holes on the back ... like just about every other non-Apple monitor our there, and many of the "all-in-one" PC's from HP, etc. If Apple had done that, it would have only added like $1 to the cost of the iMac (if that).
