Same price if not cheaper than most similar products like TV and monitor mounts.

how many other AIOs even offer VESA?

A lot of them of them do.

Many times the standard stand is a VESA stand.

The only other all-in-one that has a VESA mount built in that I could find is the HP Z1 Workstation. Unfortunately that is lacking in terms of specs now, HP still has a Sandy Bridge i3 and Xeons in there, hasn't even updated it and they're still offering the high-end model for $2599.

For the new 27" iMacs, you can configure it to have the VESA mount, bump it up to the i7, and update the GPU to the 680MX and it'll still cost less than the "high end" HP workstation. (I know that the Workstation has the Nvidia Q1000M, the opening mechanism, and is meant for rendering, but I'm not even seeing the configurations for the higher-end Q3000M or Q4000M anymore, not to mention, not updating it to the latest CPUs and chipsets)

And then added the mounting hardware, it would cost anything but less.

I know right, and it's even better when these people complaining about $40 also have a graphics card worth $300-$800.
