I know stupid question. Looking to get back into a desktop and OCing. But can I OC a 3570K to 4.5ghz or more with 1333 memory?

Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge uses multiplier overclocking so it doesn't require any ram overclocking [unless you decide to change the BCLk which isn't exactly advised], so you could use 1066Mhz memory if you wanted to redface.gif

Sandy/Ivy like said above only allow you to change the multiplier. The Bclk is tied into many other components making overclocking it non existant.

That's what I thought. So basically, having over 1066 ram is a waste. biggrin.gif

Not quite. Ivy bridge seems to love memory in the 2133/2400 range
