its some one selling on ebay...the normal rules like that probably arnt the same as in compusa or newegg. and its probly some one who picked one up and is trying to sell it for more than he/she paid for it. like the playstation 3 and stuff like that. and ended up miss reading/interpiting the booklet or what ever and ended up with the results you have before you.

This isnt the worst. I have seen 3.4 GHz dual-core Pentium D's advertised as "6.8 GHZ!"

well. fair enough.

I mean...it makes sense, but I guess they should put

2 cores at 2.13Ghz.

That would be better...

Guess we just get it since we're around it all the time and it makes perfect sense to us.

Not quite false but technically it is wrong. They are trying to make sure the n00bs know it's dual core is all.

That isn't meant to be misleading and I wouldn't call it wrong either. It's just the convention for indicating 2 cores operating at 2.13GHz.

here is the question thought is it not 2 cores that are running at 2.13ghz?

if it is 2 cores running at 2.13ghz what is illegal about advertising as such? true it does make it sound like more then what it is and al lgreat but I wouldn't say illegal. it would be a little more on the illegal side to advertise it as 1 x 2.13ghz wouldn't it? granted it would go to your favor but that is false advertisement to label it that way

even if they wanted to advertise it as 4.26 ghz of total processing power I wouldn't even consider that really that bad. as if you combine both together that is their total power there. and if your program can actually handle multithreaded programs it might see that. so still yes misleading but honest in a way. if people would actually learn about the product then they might not fall for something like this.

Seen that on Ebay... Thats defo false advertising because they actually state the CPU speed as the total of both cores which its not.

Heres a Description on a E6400... CPU Speed 4.26GHz - No its not its 2.13GHz & 2.13GHz yet they are clearley advertising the CPU as a 4.26GHz.

Unfortunetley people fall into this and buy a PC expecting to get a 4.26GHz CPU.

Some I have seen with a disclaimer saying System Info will show 2.13GHz not 4.26GHz but they dont explain.

Bad/false advertising yes... Illegal advertising no... Can they be stopped no.
