well there is no way the monitors are going back as it would cost me a fortune in postage.
the adapter here in Australia are $55 for an Apple one so $110 on adapters it is.
I will complain to Sapphire though.
thanks for your help espciall thanks to Burkes:thumb:

All professional monitors tend to include display ports now but these Crossover monitors are made to a tight budget so it's not surprising they've got limited connectivity.

To the OP:
The adapter should state what its maximum resolution should be or if not, phone them and ask? If I were you, I'd consider boxing 2x of your monitors up and selling them if you can't return them (I'm guessing shipping fees would be prohibitive) as I really don't see the point in spending nearly $200 on adapters.

Have you tried a HDMI to DVI adapter? It depends on how Sapphire has implemented their port but on their website they advertise 3D over HDMI and we would assume 1920 x 1080 @120Hz resolution so if that is the case then it implies HDMI spec 1.4 which has the bandwidth to output 1440p at 60Hz with 24bit colour (according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI it should be capable up to 4096×2160 @ 24Hz with 48bit colour)

However, I just tried my HDMI -> DVI adapter that came with my XFX 7970 but it wouldn't output more than 1080p. Possibly with a driver hack you could force a higher res but that's likely to be a PITA.

1, MST 1.2 hubs are vaporware. It will be a miracle if one ever appears it seems.

2, HDMI cannot support 120hz. 3D over HDMI does not run at 120hz. There is no driver hack.

For movie content (like Blu-ray 3D)
- Frame Packing: 1080p @23.98/24Hz

For game content (like PS3)
- Frame Packing: 720p @50 or 59.94/60Hz

For broadcast content (like 3D TV)
- Side-by-Side Horizontal: 1080i @50 or 59.94/60Hz
- Top-and-Bottom: 720p @ 50 or 59.94/60Hz or 1080p @23.97/24Hz

OP, ya use two DL adapters and the one DL DVI port on your card. IIRC, its the top port.

Fair enough, never run 120Hz or 3D so don't have any 1st hand experience. HDMI 1.3/1.4 should support 1440p if it's a dual link port but I guess there's no guarantee...from the HDMI 1.3 spec:

"4.1.3 Dual-Link
To support DVI signals greater than 165Mpixels/sec, the dual-link capability of the Type B
connector shall be used. To support DVI signals less than or equal to 165Mpixels/sec, single-link
operation shall be used.
To support very high-speed HDMI signals, the dual-link capability of the Type B connector is
available. The single-link to dual-link crossover frequency for HDMI will be defined in a future
specification and will be greater"

Well, yeah, but all I was thinking is you should be able to sell them locally without much loss as you can offer much faster delivery and give information on the specific condition of the unit.. That's worth a fair bit I'd have thought as these monitors are more likely to have defects (dead/stuck pixels, back light bleed, casing imperfections) so you can give 1st hand info on the quality, if they're good, you may find they have a slight premium over the lottery of one direct from the manufacturer. Anyway, you've already ordered an adapter so moot point really.

Ahhh this is driving potty !
i forked out on 2 Authentic Apple adapters.
Voila ! it worked awesome i was playing BF3 in surround friggin awesome !
Then ..........
I updated the drivers.........
The whole thing has gone pear shaped i can even roll them back or install prevoius nothing seems to work !
The updated driver doesnt want to handle to hi resolutions and keeps changing the resolution to really low res like in Safe mode.

Nothing i do including complete reinstall of drivers (original ones when it was working) works.

is there the possiblity i have buggered someithing up as the screens have flashed on and off that many times and switched resolution 100s of times as i have tried and tried to get it to work again.

i think you need to switch to single monitor first before messing with driver. hope you get it to work.

you may have to disable eyeinfinity first, then physically disconnect the other two monitors before reinstalling the drivers.
