Also, even with a lot of bass dialed in, it won't end up drowning out the rest of the music like the HD280's do.

So you still recommend the hd 650 over the hd600's? Wasn't sure since the reviews say the bass is abit more than what the hd 600's have to offer and was like hope its not like my hd280. They are a great closed pair of cans but yeah cant listen to them for long since I have to turn the slider on foobar2000 down to atleast -10.00dB to hear the music not just bass with volume at 10% in xonar audio panel.

That sounds extremely wrong, but fix your EQ. Do you have bass boost or some stupid crap downing out your mids with mid bass? EQ your bass down or more importantly turn off whatever software enhancement is messing it up.

yeah. I didn't find them bass heavy at all. I think there is even a mod to get more out of them.

I dont use any eq settings or bass boost with my music as I like to hear how it was intended to sound.

Are you referring to the hd650's? Apparently the differences between the hd 600/650 are like 1-2dB so its very minor, cant wait to get my new headphones over these hd 280s. Hd 600 are for like classical music and the hd 650 are manly for every genre, I was looking at the hd 800's tho but they recommend only for classical since the soundstage is too large or something I was reading it on head-fi.org anyways.

I disliked that as the bass was too high on certain genres which over powered the rest of the music and that it lacked soundstage. That the highs were rolled off and the mids were lacking imo.

are you sensitive to low frequencies or something? those headphones don't have a lot of bass in fact people mod them to get more bass.

They are ok with some music but not with others bass is to overpowering unless its me since I just started using them again from desktop speakers lol. The are tight on my head after wearing them for a few hours and they lack soundstage. Great closed pair of cans apart from that.

Wanted to know which of the 2 I should buy hd600/hd650, I know that I will be getting the o2 amp\dac which I have read many reviews on which is an excellent solid state.

Some reviews on the JDS Labs O2/Combo amp if anyone is looking for information on them.

you better make sure the Objective 2 is the right amplifier for you. I just read 6 negative comments about it with the HD650 and i'm not even on Page 2 of Google search results.
