What is a good headphone amp? - Page 7

you get what you pay for... for the most part.

this is one of my amplifiers. it's made in Australia.

http://bursonaudio.com/Burson_HA160.htm

it's like a giant aluminum ingot. well made and really good synergy with Audeze headphones.

the MSRP is $699 but with the new Soloist out it's gone down in price.

Looks great but how much ohms do you think it would put out about 600 so its future proof if I decide to update my hd650 in the future, btw this is a really nice find bro.

In a recent email I got from Burson Audio (in response to a question I had about the stepped volume) :

" . . . and you will find the step attenuator perfect for the HD-650 as we have initially designed the HA-160 to match it."

. . . as for the OP's question of HD650 with Burson combo . . .

I read in the 6 moons review of the Burson that the HA160 was voiced specifically with/for the HD650 if that helps.

During the design process, the team aimed for proper drive into what were then considered the toughest headphones, Sennheiser's open-backed 300-ohm HD650s. The rationale was simple. If it could handle those, it'd handle anything with equal grace. I'd substitute HD800s and AKG's K-702s to test drive.

there you go. match made in heaven.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the O2. People say its "sterile and harsh" simply because it is so neutral and colourless - those are specifically the reasons I like it so much.

the Schiit Magni and Modi measurements are identical and A/B testing shows no difference. the Schiit Magni and Modi looks cooler on your desk, $100 cheaper, can do 88.2k and more power.

Im really liking this HA-160D found it for 1.1K AUD or an used demo one for 990AUD. Think this is what I will settle on since its very well quality built using premium parts, time to start saving...
