Do Not Buy The Sapphire X1950 Pro!!!!!!! - Page 2

This sounds more like a user preferance then a card malfunction.

You say after you put the Zalman on it blacked screened?? LOL if it didnt do it before the install then how can you blame the dang card?? If your VRMS are overheating get some ACTIVE cooling on them like a fan or even heatsinks, for cryin out loud you are overclocking it so its going to make the VRM hot.... You did pay for a card without a VRM heatsink...

Your dis on this card is pretty pointless, and in no way should reflect other buyers from it, you are having problems with sapphire, thats unfortunate and I know where you are coming from, but since you bought it from newegg then all should be fine.

BTW just becaise someone else has got a nice overclock on the same kinda card DOES NOT mean you will. Everything is differant plain and simple.

Did you read the Sapphire forum thread that I posted? Apparently not......
When I installed the VF900, the card was at stock clocks. I couldn't even enter the Catalst Control Center, becuase the 3d renderer would cause a black screen, then a crash. I am trying to tell people to either buy the Ultimate, or look to another vendor, because people are experiencing this issue at stock clocks, not OCed, and Sapphire tech support is telling everyone to buy VF900 and some RAMsinks and mod their card, which in my opinion is unacceptable. I am simply trying to warn people of this card's limited OCing, and possiblly functioning. Pretty much all of the other vendor's photos of the card that I have seen show heatsinks on the VRMs, here is the Powercolor:

I know that the Club3d has them, as well as the reference ATI, but I am unsure of the ASUS and others

I still think Sapphire make one of the Best ATI cards out there.
Now I like HIS more, Same as Sapphire But Better Cooling and COme with more Software.
Well if you using Aftermarket cooler they both are the same. Just more software come with it.

^^They are experincing issues with the original Sapphire card not the new Ultimate which has a VF900 and heatsinks over the VRM's.

Sapphire has told me that they can't send me the VRM heatsink for my card, so I had to order some copper heatsinks for the VRMs at my expense. I even said that I would pay for it.
I have a Sapphire X1950 Pro and haven't had a problem with the card.
I do not OC my system, but am using the XGWarCat 6.11 drivers and the card is performing great.
I have used ATI Tool, TrayTool to see what is going on with the card.
I have not seen any problems at all.

I would say in your case I would purchase the Ultimate card or purchase the Zalman GPU fan/hs and install them along with a set of ram sinks for the memory chips.
