[destructoid] EA censors its own support number on its forums - Page 3

I'm sure they're being flooded right now. The next thing you know they'll probably just cut their entire support division.

"In an effort to raise our bottom line, we have made the decision to no longer provide support for our games. Issues will be patched eventually or never, so there is no point in calling us about it.

Thank you, and please enjoy our games. Or don't. Whatevs."

Since I've worked in a similar support position before I don't blame them. I honestly would not want to constantly have to deal with people whining about this when there is nothing the support person can do. Nothing. Yet people are going to yell at them, insult them and be extremely rude for no reason. It's not the support members that made SimCity the fail it was, it's not their fault that they can't give refunds, and it's not their job to listen to people constantly complain about it to them.

So many people have never worked in one of those positions and they treat the people that do work there like crap. It's not their fault policies prevent them from giving refunds.

Flipped through the pictures, I missed the end of the 5th one somehow, and since Destructoid's gallery is tedious to use at best I didn't bother going back to read the article.

From the additional edits in the Reddit thread, it sounds like a volunteer moderator edited the first post, and I would assume they've got an automated system to repeat specific moderator edits automatically that caused it (think autocorrect). Very poor design to rely an automated system on a smart world.

I did have to laugh at one of the Reddit comments though:

Brilliant comment. Sig worthy. I saw EA was reverting to his Evil Sith Lord days since 2009, but I never thought they would be able to surpass Activision/Blizzard in all it's evilness. Good move EA, now let free those few good developers you still have under your leathery wings or we'll send the killing squad. gunner2.gif

If you have a problem with EA, vote with your wallets.
I personally won't buy any of their crap anymore (no exceptions).

OT: this has turned into a clusterjunk of legendary proportions. Honestly I was on Maxis' side when the server issue first broke because hey, launch day servers... it happens. But the deeper people dig, the worse this gets. Maxis is about as reputable as EA at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if Bradshaw ends up tendering her resignation before all is said and done.
What's worst it's that this is not a petty poor PC game, it's Maxis and something with SIMs in the title. Think about all those casual gamers addicted to thousands of different The Sims iterations: mothers, old people, young teenagers without taste for graphically impressive games or interesting stories...

People that, at best, know enough about their PC to power it, launch a browser, check their facebook/twitter/email account and install one or two games, where uninstalling it it asking too much...and shutdown their PCs by pulling the cord biggrin.gif

Those are thousands of people who could recognize Maxis and something with Sims in the title as a sure purchase, and after all this situation with server issues(still ongoing), bugs-a-lot(still ongoing), and problems, will avoid EA, Maxis and something with Sims in the title for the foreseeable future.

All those equate to money loss. Now and in the future. And money gives EA a hard-on more than anything. So I hope that Bradshaw gets fired real quick for selling her brightest daughter to be raped and thrown in a muddy pool, all while selling herself and her part of EA. It's a pitty what money does to people like Lucy, she oversaw the development of The Secret of Monkey Island 2 and The Dig.

You want to hurt EA? Don't buy their games. Its obvious at this point the only reason they made always online required is for DRM purposes only. EA is only interested in you spending money on their offerings, not supporting them.

I first learned for myself EA was a bad company after EA came out with the first expansion for the original Sims. I was thought it was a complete rip off that you had to pay like $29.95 for a couple pieces of new furniture. When there was 100 times more content online that was free as add-ons.

Also for my old Need For Speed game. They use to have a pink signature title screen "Electronic Arts" They then had a special patch for the game that added nothing to the game. Except to change the logo to the traditional logo we see today, that has the annoying children's voices saying "EA, challenge everything" Making that whole intro un-skipable.

They where one of the first game companies to do this forcing you to watch the intro like you never heard of them before. Wanting to program their name into your minds. It was things like this that really turned me off to the company way before I would ever go online, reading the forums or news articles about them.
