Help! Can't install new GPU (Asus HD 7950 DC2)?????

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED

Hey guys I have a cooler master HAF case, and an EVGA P67 FTW board.

When I try to install the GPU, it feels like it fully slides in the pci-e slot, I hear it click and everything, visually looks good too, but I can't screw the card into the case, I can't use the plastic clips attached to the case either.

Problem is that the metal part of the GPU with the 2 or 3 holes where you put the screws in to connect the card to the case, is not flush with the case, there is like a quarter inch gap between it and the case. I tried to push the card in more, but it won't go anymore, tried 2 other slots, same thing.

I've had a 3870x2, xfx 6850, his 6950 IceQ x turbo, diamond 6950, and a 6990, all installed no problem, in fact no GPU that I've installed in any case/mb has ever done this.......

Anyone have any ideas?

photos would help.

The clip is at the back of the slot so it could engage but not be fully located in the socket. I've had problems before where the motherboard was a little too close to the rear of the case and therefore the tab of the card bracket fouled on the motherboard rather slotted neatly where it should.

Try loosening the motherboard screws and moving the board as far to the front as you can... This isn't going to be much though, maybe 0.5mm but could be enough.

If that doesn't solve it then it could be some components on the board that are fouling the card

If you don't have much luck, remove the motherboard and put it on a bench top and see how the card fits in to the slot

I will try to take photos soon, it's the metal part of any GPU, or any other pci/pci-e part, that you screw/clip into your case when installing it, the bracket at the back of the GPU that you can screw/clip into the case to help support the card, and so it can't move, it's how you secure the part to the case.

Ya I was thinking that might be the problem, the motherboard being installed too tightly in the back of the case, I will try again

It was bent and not sliding through the motherboard to case gap properly, got it in now, had to bend the GPU bracket with pliers, thanks for the quick responses.
