Ha ha, That's pretty much why I bought Windows 8 too tongue.gif But I had to pay £15 rather than $15 frown.gif

Also I would consider Windows 8 an upgrade. Just because it's a bit different doesn't mean it's not an upgrade.

For Windows 8, all I've noticed is a cleaner task manager and slightly faster boot times. Nothing major, and not worth the money if you ask me.

I would dual boot to get best of both worlds.

Windows 8 In my opinion is not worth the time it takes getting used to,and I do not favor the relatively simplified and toned down interface. Surely, there are many who share my opinion smile.gif

Just because it's at bit different doesn't mean it is an upgrade! I bought a copy ($15), used it for a few months. Convinced myself for awhile I was happy with it. Just switched back to 7 this weekend! Oh well.rolleyes.gif

Similar to my events, I forced myself to consider it an upgrade. Then I switched back to windows 7 probably 3 days later.

My general rule of thumb on Microsoft operating systems is this. Skip every other one. Because every other one is glorified beta software released in the wild for public testing. Testing which the public pays for.

1. Windows ME (Skip)
2. Windows XP (Awesome)
3. Windows Vista (Skip)
4. Windows 7 (Awesome)
5. Windows 8 (Skip)
6. Windows ? (Probably Awesome)

This is a broad generalization and everyone has different needs. But the above is my opinion. thumb.gif

In early November I was on the verge of going to bed and a message from Microsoft popped up about Windows 8. It seemed quite cheap so I thought "what the hell" and bought it (download) plus I ordered the disc. The next day when I tried using I sat and gasped at the horrific thing on my monitor. It also introduced this "echo" effect into my sound system which I couldn't get rid of. I struggled with this obscenity for about a week before replacing it with Windows 7 - lovely and the echo disappeared! After 3 weeks the disc hadn't showed up so I phoned Microsoft and demanded a refund which to my surprise they gave without a murmur. The next day the disc arrived and I binned it.
So my answer is "NO!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0fsyb-ttcw

Wow. I liked windows XP. I skipped Vista because I never bought it or a new computer during its release. I bought windows 7 when I bought a friends broken computer. I just built a new computer and put windows 8. I have always laughed at people who complain about something NEW.

There will always be growing pains with new OS's. My main point being "Vista Virus", yes it was "buggy". I recently was given a couple of laptops with vista originally installed. I put 7 on them and they worked fine. I then put Vista back on them after testing buying the replacement Cd's, they are running stable and perfectly.

My point is there is always change and some people "want to be the first to change" but refuse to actually change, then complain when it isn't what they thought or wanted. these are the same people who buy the Ultimate version of vista and 7 and thought they were getting a better operating system(wait they still do).

Yes it is an Upgrade is it worth buying if you currently have a rig with 7. NO.

If you are building a New computer. Yes buy it.
