There is a test shows 8 has 5~10 fps than 7, and more stable in OC than 7. The only problem is the start menu. I am using8 and I like it.

It's faster, more stable, and more secure. The improvements to Windows Explorer are very welcome, and the new keyboard shortcuts are so useful that I find myself trying to use them on Windows 7 PCs.

I also used Start8 when I first got Windows 8. I liked it and it worked well. However, I eventually started using the Start screen more often and I now feel like I am more efficient with it than without it, and I have since uninstalled Start8.

I think a big reason it isn't more popular is because there is nothing "wrong" with Windows 7, it is still a very good and stable OS, giving little reason to switch for many people. Combined with the shrinking of the PC market in general.

as for keyboard shortcuts I am still trying to teach the ladies in the office to use ctrl-c, ctrl-a and ctrl-v. if you can learn short cuts you will be more productive. unfortunately most people do not, they like their mouse.

Don't bother with start 8 or anything like that, they suck.

The new Windows 8 search feature sucks when you use the start screen to search. Explorer search is much better.

A lot of things with windows 8 are nice and work the same as 7.

You guys all need to stop preaching your opinion as fact.

Windows 7 isn't better than 8.
Windows 8 isn't better than 7.
Windows Vista wasn't bad, but it's worse than both of them.

Now I understand, those saying it's bad base it ENTIRELY on the metro screen, and many of you are simply following suit and have yet to ACTUALLY give it a fair shot (inb4 flaming for that comment). You may have tried it, but giving it a fair shot means a good 30 day trial.

I've been using Windows 8 since it RTM'd in August. Loving it. As a poweruser who utilizes their keyboard (Win key>type>enter) for everything launch related, there's zero difference for me in that respect other than a boost in speed which is always welcome. I was recently forced to go back to 7 due to an Nvidia driver bug that was constantly crashing openGL games. I couldn't do it and went back to 8 immediately. It was like going from Chrome to Firefox or IE. Ironically I fixed my issue in 8 immediately upon going back...but that's beside the point....

Point is, 8 is fine. It IS noticeably faster; and before you say it's less intuitive for a power user, REAL power users use the keyboard shortcut method. In that respect, it's the same. Nobody is forcing you to use it, but this is where software is going, so adjust or buy a console.

I dislike Windows 8 for a desktop environment, that's my opinion. However when using Windows 8 on a slate it's great, in that environment the Metro interface is useful. A person could either fat finger the metro tiles with ease or if they get the optional keyboard they can enjoy the typical desktop too. The user can also use the typical desktop but would find it easier to navigate the tiles with their finger. It's a great balance between touch screens and optional near full laptop usefulness.
