Need a new 24" monitor.

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a monitor primarily for gaming, however I don't need SUPER low Input lag or 3D, 60hz is enough for me but more doesn't hurt (not a competitive gamer), I also don't care about viewing angles and I'm OK with SOME backlight bleeding, what I'm really looking for is a monitor with best possible picture/color quality within around 450$, 16:10 1920x1200.

Possible Monitors:

Dell U2412M, a lot of people seem to have problems with flickering, backlight bleeding and aggressive AG coating.

NEC EA244WMi, some say its like a U2412M but with semiglossy coating witch is great, I'm leaning more towards this one, would appreciate some personal experiences with it.

Samsung S24A850DW, semiglossy coating witch is great , bad colors??, lots of backlight bleeding.

Dell Dell S2440l, don't think glossy screen would be a problem but its 1080p.

Please post your experiences with any of these monitors or any others you may recommend

Depends on if you prefer great colors (IPS panel) or low input lag and pixel response time (TN panel).

Most of the entry level IPS monitors are known to have issues such as backlight bleeding.

not sure about the U2412HM but I have a U2312HM and a U2212HM with no backliight bleeding and I don't even notice the AG coating. So from my experience, if you don't mind a 23" 1920x1080 monitor, I recommend the U2312HM

I would prefer great colors as long as the lag is not noticeable since I don't compete in FPS games or anything .

Could you tell me more about the picture quality and how the colors look?

I'm also looking into PLS monitors they seem to have excellent image quality and accurate colors but are very expensive....rolleyes.gif

Don't like the risks involved, plus is only worth it for 27"/30" monitors.

Would really appreciate some info on the monitors I choose:D

What risk involved. You can get perfect pixel monitors with better warranties than dell provides.
