Save file issue with Far Cry 3

Alrighty, so basically whats happening is I played a torrented version of Far Cry 3 on my friends pc, and I got pretty far. So I decided to purchase the game on steam for myself. I got the save files of his computer (from C:\ProgramData\Orbit\46\) onto mine. But when I installed Far Cry 3 on my pc, first of, the save files were stored in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\f5049775-2eac-4ecb-9d66-5d3847ffcc6c\46" and they are also a diffrent format, my old ones are .sav and the new ones from steam are .save

Is there ANY way I can convert them or something so I can resume with my progress? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Can you open the files with a text editor? If you can we might be able to copy/paste elements of your old save file into a save file for the new game.

If we can't read the contents with a text editor, then you are looking at a lot of work and time to reverse engineer things. In which case your pro bally better off starting a new game.
