Caviar Black disappeared, bad health, then good health, then unknown? - Page 2

Got it home and plugged it in, CDI did the same again, said the health was 'Bad', and had the 'Spin-up Time' and 'Reallocated Sectors Count' in red, then changed to 'Unknown', then 'Good'. System hung a bit inbetween too, weird. Glad I'm getting an RMA, will send it off in the next few days. smile.gif

Why dont you test the disks on another computer, those issues are more like a bad sata port / controller on the motherboard.

Had other drives on it working fine, and it did the same thing in my Work PC (forgot to say earlier). Good suggestion though, thanks. smile.gif

Thanks. Steam threw a fit/I didn't have enough space on my SSD to transfer over a few games, so I'm going gameless until I get it back.

Just an update, RMA was painless, got a new drive in just over a week. Recertified, but it's silent (hooray! biggrin.gif), no errors, and a newer model than my old one was. Happy days. Definitely using WD for future HDD purchases.

That's good. I have had nothing but problems with WD and their products attempting to RMA something.... But I am happy that it worked for you so seamlessly.
