Need some few fans (120x2 and 200)

So the CM 200mm fan that can in my haf x sounded awful. (The one on top sounds fine, but the one in the side was awful). So I pulled a 200mm fan out of my old haf 932 but the enclosure of the fan was too big--there's indented area for the fan to sit in and the this is too big so it can't sit in the indented area but sits over it. Obviously, I'd like to get one that fits. I don't need a ridiculously awesome fan or anything, but a good one that's quiet.

I also need a second 120mm fan for my hyper 212+. But since I'm kinda OCD (term used loosely) about it, I want to replace my stock fan so that both fans on it match. So I need two 120mm PWM fans that'll work for this.

My computer isn't overclocked, but I plan to when I get around to it, but not to an insane amount--just a bit, because I know my computer can handle it. So basically I want some good, quiet fans. Preferably some that can be bought at Fry's. Though if I have to order them online it's not the end of the world.

Anyone?

I don't know much about fans but would like them to last awhile. And I don't know what kind of "mechanicals" (gears, bearings, whatever) equate to long life.
I looked at the Fry's store.

I would recommend the Enermax TB Silence Blue/Red Led 1200 rpm 3-pin .

I'm not from US and I've heard good things about these fans in my country.
I've heard that these fans are very quiet and have nice build quality.

The Aerocool Shark's are also well recommended fans but they aren't the quietest fans without speed control.

Almost all 200mm fans sucks Bitfenix Spectre seems like the best one but dont buy a Spectre Pro they are very loud

For a 120mm fan either Corsair SP120 or Noctua NF-F12 or the older Scythe Gentle Typhoon fans

What about a good 140mm fan in the rear of your case while you are at it

ive been researching this extensively lately because im trying to get a side fan on my thermaltake mki and another top fan, both 200 mm but i encountered the same thing. they just dont make very many good 200 fans it seems. though based on what everyones saying i disagree with the bitfenix comment. the bitfeneix specter pro seems to be by far the best 200 mm right now. it is a bit louder than my tricoolthermaltake fans though, and hell maybe ill just end up ordering 2 more from them. but they charge waaaay too much for shipping. 17 dollar fan,12 dollar shipping, really?!

so from what i can tell so far the 2 best options i can see are

thermaltake fan:
http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/store/Product.aspx?C=1020&SC=1078&ID=1657

and the specter pro
http://www.cputopia.com/bitfenix-200mm-spectre-pro-all-blackbff-spro-20025kk-rp.html?utm_source=googlepepla&utm_medium=adwords&id=20206522684&utm_content=pla&gclid=CP7c9bb9ibYCFQLhQgodWDIAoA

anyway,i can agree with your concern for quiet and the trouble of finding good fans with good airflow. right now my case is totaly silent but i want to start overclocking and that includes my videocard so i really do want a side fan but not gain tons of noise

I have 3x200mm Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans in my HAF X on min speed they dont make a lot of noise on max speed i find them too be a little loud.

What i find most annoying is that mine are some strange mutant one off fans that i cant turn the right way in my HAF X the top fans blow in and not out and the side panel fan blows out not ind why because if i turn them the other way around the fan blade will hit the case and either not move or break so i was forced to turn them around

I hadn't considered replacing that one. The only reason I'm replacing the 200mm side fan is because it was obviously defective some way and started sounding awful. But if the stock fan isn't up to par, I probably need suggestions for that, too. Once I start overclocking I don't want crappy fans to be my bottleneck.

That's exactly the boat I'm in. I'm glad someone else is doing the research, too. When you make a decision, come back here and tell me what you decided.

Have you tried switching which fan is where? I would probably contact the manufacturer and tell them the fan blades aren't level/flat/whatever if they're hitting the case when installed. You should be able to push/pull just fine with any fan.
All 3 200mm fans does that no mater which one i use where but i got a early batch so they could all be FUBAR but i am not the only one with the very same problem.

As for the 140mm fan the stock fan is alright but not great either

I use a Noctua NF-A14 FLX 140mm fan as my rear fan and i think its great but its not made as a case fan its made as a heatsink fan so talk to Tator Tot about which 140mm fan is best for you

Can be found here http://www.overclock.net/t/1321074/tator-tots-big-quiet-120mm-140mm-fan-round-up

For 200mm fans if you aware of the fan blade and nosie problem the Bitfenix Spectre Pro is not bad fans but i have heard some same the older Bitfenix Spectre fans are better

I bet the fan you pulled out of your HAF-932 was a 230mm (Front fan) and no it doesn't fit (I'm pretty sure I tried that one myself once). biggrin.gif

TBH, I got a couple of 200mm fans from NZXT and they didn't last very long (Plus they were a bit loud). A lot of fans don't do well in certain positions because of placement (Side vs. Top). Take a look at the types of bearings used on fans, here is one place I read about it: http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/779-computer-case-fan-bearing-differences As far as quiet, you want under 20db for that.

I personally haven't tried the BitFenix 200mm fan yet but it will probably be my next buy because of the Fluid Dynamic Bearings, but honestly, my CM 200mm Megaflows have been very reliable. The link Alex posted is a good price on the specter pro fans. Always check vendor shipping prices when buying, it can make a big difference.

Post back what you end up with and how the fans work out. smile.gif

My take on the Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans are at full sped they move more air then the CM stock fans but they also make more noise and for some reason mine are FUBAR models they have all kinds of strange things going on

Short version buy a fan controller if you want Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans
