Windows updates

Thread Starter
How important are the updates to have? I'm speaking about the security updates, and not any updates for fixing and stabilizing the OS. I figure mostly of the security updates are to fix any security vulnerabilities, although for a casual user, why should we be bothered by them, it's not like a hacker is going to take advantage of this and attack your PC. And if you have a firewall, anti-virus and spyware tools, you are more or less secured against more common threats.
