Down here they did go up (we get most of our stuff from the States anyway). Around $200-300 pesos on average for a 4GB and 8GB DDR3 stick. And one of my RAM sticks just died too. Great timing.

LOL. I honestly think we should just give people what they want...social/communistic/naivety and see how happy they'd be under that social-economic system. Odds are everyone would be upset about that too for reason like "no one produces anything good"...and so on. The market is fine...people are the problem. The consumers have allowed this to happen whether they wish to admit/accept it or not. NO ONE forces you to buy something when you don't think it is a good deal. Just remember that and hold out with your money and the market will either learn it's lesson or die out. Either way it "corrects" itself.

@Liranan: I take it you've never heard of loss leader strategy? It's not a well liked one and I believe it's "illegal" but it can lead to the appearance of a cartel if the loss leader or those chasing them eventually reverse their methods. I'm not saying that is the case here or that there isn't a chance of "cartel" actions...but people really need to stop jumping around like emotional monkeys and think before they demonize everything.

In my case, i got in right before it went up.

bought these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104293

for 80.99 (less with coupon)

next day it went to 94.99
not saying in my case it was price fixing, but the main reason i bought that ram was because ram everywhere else seemed to be more expensive then before.

Hope I don't need 16 GB anytime soon. Those prices are indeed troubling compared to the past.

Although, my machine is a internet browser and light gaming PC so I doubt I will ever need to upgrade.

Hopefully 2x4GB and a 2GB GPU is enough. I think...

As an Australian I can confirm that these price hikes are not happening just in the USA.
The ram I paid $48 for 2 months ago is now $69

The market does not correct itself, it's manipulated. Those who cling to the idea of the 'free market' have no idea what it means and how it works.

The emotional monkeys on this forum have seen DRAM producers commit crimes and are wary of supporting giant corporations that could very well be committing the same crimes all over again.
