Why is my PC making this noise? - Page 3

I have a new seasonic 660 platinum and it has coil whine but not as bad. Also my gpu has coil whine which sounds similiar to yours but only under full load. I would check and see if its not the gpu first. Connect the power supply outside of the case to make sure.

Wow you certainly have good luck following you my friend. I'm jealous haha. But just as a quick update Scan have said they will replace the TX-650M with a TX-650 V2 which I believe is slightly updated. Will give me a bit more hope I guess. smile.gif

I did take out the GTX 670 and run the same game and the PSU didn't make any noise but then I thought it was a bit of an unfair test as the PSU isn't sending as much power when using integrated I'm assuming and the FPS is in the single digits where as with the card installed its the opposite so I thought I would RMA the PSU (which is being replaced now with the TX650 V2, I have read that the one I purchased was a CWT and the one being sent back to me is a more recent Seasonic. Personally I don't know anything about PSU's but I'm assuming the Seasonic V2 will be better?

Okay brilliant. smile.gif I guess I'll have to wait and see when the V2 PSU comes through the post. I'll keep you all posted on if it's all good or not.

Thanks again everyone for helping out!

It's worth noting that a GPU can cause a PSU to make noise. I've been doing some testing lately on just that. It can make the PSU make far more noise than the GPU itself makes, even.
I have a 7870 here that when paired with a specific InWin PSU (a good PSU, mind you) makes a pretty tremendous amount of noise. With other GPUs (which make some noise of their own), it makes very little noise, a bit less than the GPU.
With that specific 7870 though, it's quite loud.

PSU noise can indeed be directly caused by a GPU.
