Phenom II 965 + Asus M3N-HT Deluxe/HDMI = Gaming potential?

I recently picked up a Lian Li V1200 (silver) and inside it had the above specs plus some below. Is there any gaming potential for this setup, with let's say, I add a decent GPU. Not looking to max everything. Just trying to gt a feel if this thing is worth building on even though it was free.

Specs:
Lian Li V1200
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112055

Phenom II X4 965 C3 currently clocked in at 3.4

ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131343

4GB Corsair XMS 2 DDR2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145176&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Memory-_-N82E16820145176&gclid=COC3yqzkhLYCFZFaMgodsWcA3w

Any opinions welcomed.

There is gaming potential. My second gaming PC has similar specifications with a AMD 965 @ 3.4GHz and 4GB ram. If you are playing at 1080p resolutions with a mid range GPU, you can play close to or max settings (without AA/MSAA on).

How much you are looking to spend on a Graphics Card and what is the current power supply + wattage?

Was thinking of getting like a 7950 if it can handle it, but it only has a 430 Cooler Master power supply. If it can't handle the 7950 then of course something else that can play something like BF3 even at mi-high settings should be good with me. It looks like I might want to change the stock hsf as well. It's idling around 43C right now.

Your current 430watt power supply can handle an AMD 7850 that will also allow you to play BF3 easily at med to high settings.. maybe even ultra with MSAA off at 1080p at just under 60FPS.

The AMD 7950 may require you to upgrade to a powersupply with a bit more power of at least 500watts and it is good if you plan to game at resolutions higher than 1080 (like at 2560x1440).

If its the newer version colored black with a 120mm fan, ie: RS-430-PCAR, then you should be in decent shape.

I was actually looking at the 7850s at Microcenter today. Thanks for the info. This may be what I end up picking up.

That's the exact PSU tat came with it. I'm guessing I wouldn't want to push it to hard though.

My 965 was a strong contender when I was using it. At the time I had SLI 275s in it. I was able to max out Crysis Warhead on it with great FPS if that means anything to ya.

The load tester does not lie!! This power supply is solid all of the way up to 430W and then some. I was most impressed with the efficiency. It even passed the crossload tests, which were performed with the rails above label spec! Not bad at all!

If you’re aesthetics aren’t high on your priority list, you don’t need a lot of connectors and you don’t need active PFC, this PSU is perfect for any non-SLI user on a budget. This PSU is efficient, quiet and fairly stable.

which is a darned good review

you will be fine with a 7870
