Is 1.36 vcore too much for 3930k 4.4ghz? - Page 6

Here I am with a 4ghz overclock, running only a vcore of 1.195, and temps are ridiculous. High 70's. I will never be able to hit 4.2 let alone 4.4.

Don't use OCCT, use Prime95 for more realistic temps.

So don't use OCCT at all?

I really like how little vcore I need for a 4ghz oc. But 4.2 and 4.4 take me off the charts. Why? Did I lose the silicon lottery?

If you open the screenshot, it clearly states 1.192v (You probably notice anyway and needed to point his typing mistake)

Maybe your cooler is not well seated, Bad Thermal paste, not well applied, lack of thermal paste ???
Can you make a 8 hours run using that Vcore with prime95 like I have shown you.

Oops I missed a one. vcore of 1.195

Upped it to 1.20, everything runs great, temps 50-60. But any ocing above 4ghz the temps and voltage goes through the roof.

I have hyperthreading off and still no luck.

I don't want to start a long test until I get a ghz I can live with though. I really want a 4.2 or 4.4 clock but the vcore requirements climb above 1.30. How do I run 4ghz at 1.20 but 4.2 requires 1.30??

Wow, what kind of cooling are you using? Custom water cooler? I'd love that high a clock, even if it's with high volts. My H100i just can't handle it apparently. It can't even handle 4.4 frown.gif

Don't turn HyperThreading off. You better keep it on.

I run 4.6 Ghz at 1.375v and 5 ghz at 1.58v (Yes 1.58v)

I'm pretty sure your cooler is not well seated or maybe change the Tim. What about the airflow in your case, can you provide a picture of your setup?

According to this review, you should get better temperature

I don't have a camera handy. I have a C70 case, I took out the middle hard drive bay, and have 2 fans in front, 1 fan in front of the bottom hd bay, 1 fan on the bottom of the case, (all 120mm) in the process of getting 2 fans for the side panel (140mm), 120mm exhaust, 4 120mm in push/pull up top.

I've tried 3 times with thermal paste. I've almost given up.
