I've tried 3 times with thermal paste. I've almost given up.

This sucks, maybe you just got a bad chip. Aim for 4.3 Ghz and stay under 80'C.

What is your ambient? If you say 32'C I might understand wink.gif

No idea what the ambient temp is, but my mobo is in the 30's and idle, my cores are in the 40's. Right now at 4.2, vcore at 1.28, temps are in the 60's and 70's with only core 5 jumping up to the high 70's low 80's once in a while.

Well I ditched the H100i and just installed a Thermaltake Extreme 2.0 and this thing is awesome. So much better, temps idle at the 50's when I'm ocing to 4.4. So much happier now, thanks everyone for the help! Time to tweak my oc now to get a stable 4.4

1.36 is too high per Intel's specifications. The biggest problem you'll have will be be related to temperature. I'm at 1.290v at 4.4GHz and I hit ~70 during Prime95, and while the consensus seems to be 80 as an upper limit, I still wouldn't want it to go any higher.

Temps at 1.36 would be my biggest worry.

I should also add that overclocking these 3930s is pretty damn unpredictable. Most guides I've seen (even with SBe) have insinuated a roughly linear increase in voltage with clock speed, but while I'm stable with 1.290 at 4.4, I'm not stable at 4.5 even with 1.350v.

Wow, you got lucky! I am testing right now over 1.30 because anything lower gives me a bsod at 4.4ghz. It seems vcore at 1.32 is needed when I oc to 4.4. Can't go lower, get an error code 101 bsod.

If you're stable at 1.32, that's fine.

As far as being lucky, I've seen a few people on here who were stable with 1.3 at 4.5 wha-smiley.png

Yeah when I created this topic, I was using the Corsair H100i. It doesn't like the 3930k at all. Now I just replaced it with the Thermaltake Extreme 2.0 and my system is much more stable at a lower vcore. Thanks for the help.

What are your voltages and settings in BIOS:
vcore
vtt
vccsa

Have you set XMP profile with correct DRAM voltage ? Its a huge jump from 4.2 to 4.4 ghz, requires much more volt, I would say 1.34v for 4.4 Ghz in most cases

I use 1.37vcore for 4.6 Ghz, VTT at 1.125v and VCCSA at 1.05v

what is your LLC set at?
