The 2x4gb sets are the same price as other memory at my local store and the 1866 and 1600 are the same price. Just looking for input as to which would be more aesthetically pleasing.

So I'm putting together a new computer. I have some kinda leftover 2gb corsair sticks from my I7 but a couple of them need to be rma'd I figure.

Anyway I'm probably going to put them in for setup/diag purposes, the issue is for the most part they refuse to run at 1600mhz (their rating).
So I saw the Patriot Intel Extreme Masters edition and was thinking of going that route, but then I saw the Black Mamba and I'm torn between the 2. They are going into the MSI P55A-GD65 in my Low Budget Outlaw.

If you're looking at memory with similar specs from the same manufacturer produced in the same timeframe - most likely they will have the same ICs (memory chips under the heatspreaders) hence the only difference will come down to heatspreaders. In the case of Patriots Intel Extreme vs Black Mamba it is even more simple, the only difference seems to be the color.

At the same price I would recommend going for the kit with higher rated speeds as that is likely to overclock better and will hold a higher resale value over time.
