Overclocking and ACER ASPIRE V3-471G thoughts?

Thread Starter
So I got an ACER ASPIRE V3-471G recently so I was wondering if I made a good purchase? It has an intel core i7-3630QM 2.4GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz, nvidia GEFORCE GT 640M 2GB of dedicated VRAM, 1000 GB HDD and a 12GB RAM. Is it a good gaming laptop? Another thing I'd like to ask is about overclocking and I heard that you shouldn't overclock your laptop even though it is possible and if you have a good enough graphics card? Is it possible to overclock mine? I really want some good FPS so I can play shooters better frames. I can run Gotham City Imposters and Blacklight Retribution maxed out with great fps. But these are free to play games, even though Blacklight graphics are very nice. The main reason I want to overclock is Planetside 2, where despite setting all my graphical setting to low, I only get around 20-30 fps in large battles. So I'm thinking of overclocking. Any good advise I can/should apply?

Mild overclocks will only net a few FPS and it really isn't worth it on a laptop due to the cooling requirements. I'm thinking that it will already run on the warm side as it is, without clocking it even higher.

If gaming and overclocking are things you'd like to invest in, then a desktop rig is going to be the best option.
