Prime95 - Page 6

I am running an i7-960 Dual-QuadCode with 12GB OCZ memory under Win-7 64-bit. I have the 64-bit version of Prime95. While running Prime95 with 8-threads, Windows Resource Monitor indicates only about 3.10 GB of memory are being used, although it does indicate 12GB are installed. CPUs are at 100%. Do you happen to know why Prime95 is not utilizing more memory? How do I know whether memory sticks aren't actually being tested?

Maybe you have to increase the problem size. Prime95 has a set amount that it uses, I thought. I use LinX with i7s to test stability because it is a lot easier and you can kind of benchmark it at the same time with the amount of gflops

Now ive been using Prime for years and I cant figure out whats goin on. So blend test will stress the CPU 100% but Ram usage never goes over 3.12Gbs?

Am I just being a n00b?

Sounds like it's time to use Intel Burn Test or LinX. I thought Prime didn't go higher because of the problem size or something. I will check the options and report back if I have a fix for both of you.

I have always used Prime95 for stress testing but why is LinX so much more demanding? I get a max temp of 63C on Prime95 but i get 81C on LinX. I have never had an overheating problem or random shutdowns. Which one should i go by?

I have seen 5-10 degree difference. Something must be wrong.
