i need help to OC my E6600 to 3.0ghz or 3.4ghz...

hello,
i am a total noob when it comes to Overclocking so i need expert advise. i want to OC my E6600 to at least 3.0 Ghz or 3.4 Ghz. My mobo is P5N32-Sli Premium and my case is huge for lots of airflow....i upgraded the cooling fan to a Zalman. So overheating is not the trouble...or so i dont think...i dont wanna F it up and screwed my CPu over....i read the guide from NoAffinity and although its very informative...i just want straight forward direction.....go here....change this and this....get 3.0 ghz....or 3.4ghz...go grab a beer....something like that...hehe... also my ram is Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4....and if anybody have a chance....tell me how to get 1:1 ratio between cpu:ram....its currently at 2:3...stock speed on both...2.4ghz for cpu and 400 mhz for ram.

Thanks that is all. If anyone confuse and would like for me to post a picuture of of the comp stats...i would be more than happy to do it...in the meanwhille...cyah...

Please fill in your system specs!

And 3.4 sounds a little optomistic.

WHich Zalman did you get?

3.2 can be done without any voltage tweaking in bios. Oh wait with that board not too sure. 360 fsb reachable with that board???

for beginners, to get a 1:1 ratio run the CPU at 2.4ghz (stock) and find the setting to make your RAM run at 800mhz.

that will give you a 1:1 ratio.

EDIT: that will not be 1:1, he has PC6400 or DDR2 800, He will need to have his FSB@400 to be 1:1 with his RAM, Nvidia chipsets for Intel CPUs dont OC well at all. (with the exception of the 680i).

To OC just up your FSB to 334=3.0Ghz, you shouldnt need to do any voltage adjustmants

No, the FSB right now is at 266. Look for the option that sets RAM to something like DDR2 533. This will give you a 1:1 ratio on stock. Then you increase your CPU Frequency[FSB] to as high as possible without touching the Vcore. As you increase the FSB from 266 to whatever, the RAM frequency will also increase so it will still be 1:1. See how high you can go on stock voltages first.

Edit: Am I getting something wrong here? His FSB at stock should be 266 right? How will setting it at DDR2 800 give him 1:1.

wait Im confusing myself, if he is at stock CPU speed with PC6400, and wants to run his RAM at DDR2 800 speeds, he wont be 1:1, it will be 2:3 ratio, the only way his ram will be 1:1 is with a FSB of 400

Yeah but that will be 3.6 GHz and at this point it's impossible. So I'm right.

aznknightz17, fill out your system specs by clicking "User CP" on top and on the left add/edit your system.

Right now you have a stock FSB of 266. So if you want to begin with a FSB:RAM of 1:1. Find an option with "DDR2 533." This will give you the 1:1. Then increase your FSB from this point. I think you can try 3.0 in one shot. Increase your FSB to 334 and see if you get the rig going.

edit
Nevermind that. Don't jump to 334 in one shot. I don't think that's possible for your mobo. Go up in small increments of 5 or 10. I think you can get at least to 2.7 stable without doing anything else. Make your FSB 300. See how that goes. If this is stable with Orthos/Prime95. Then increase it by 5-10.

lol...lots of possibles and impossibles, but yep thats correct, DDR2 533 will be 1:1 with the CPU, I would just jump to 334, he will prob have to up the chipset voltage a little though (1.6 maybe)
