I have bought evga boards in the past have you? There is always some kinda of a problem with them. I'll never buy another one! Maybe you should read through this thread or visit x79 sub-section.

First, please don't be so hostile. Second, look at who you quoted. Bobnova had nothing to do with that article.

That would be like going back now and changing all GTX400 series and HD5000 series GPUs reviews to all have FAIL, 0/10, F, etc. ratings since they are now horrible performance for the money years later. As you put it: What do you think will happen if a viewer purchases those garbage GTX400/HD5000 GPUs based on positive reviews and then realizes their purchase is garbage today? It just doesn't make sense... Readers have to realize how old the content they are reading is and that things could have changed over time. You know, post up a thread asking about if the board is recommended since the review is so old, then people that have been using the board for extended amounts of time can chime in to report that since the review, issues x, y, z, etc. have been showing up. Readers also have to realize that reviewers only have 2-3 weeks max to use the product before a review is posted, so things that don't come up in those few weeks won't be included in the review or considered when determining a rating since reviewers can't see into the future.

What can be done when issues start popping up is members updating in the discussion with those experiences, so readers can see possible current issues in the comments.
+1

A single experience/review doesn't prove anything, it's the collective experience of all reviews and users that determine whether a product is good or not.

No, it would not be like going back and changing all GTX 400 series and HD 5000 series GPUs reviews to all have FAIL, 0/10, F, etc. Because the GTX 400 series and HD 5000 series GPUs perform just as good or better than they did since the day they were released.

You are talking about GPU performance ratios over time which has nothing to do with what I wrote.

The EVGA X79 FTW and EVGA X79 Clasified were flawed from the day they were launched and have yet to be fixed. As for the GTX 400 series and HD 5000 series GPUs, they are both still excellent GPUs series, especially for someone who does not need or does not want to upgrade to the latest and greatest. Please explain why someone would think there purchase of a GTX400/HD5000 GPU would be garbage today? Does the said GPU (s) not perform as they did or better at the time when they were launched/purchased?

The LGA 2011 motherboards are far from being dated or old. Still a lot of people investing money in the LGA 2011 platform. Last time I check the LGA 2011 is considered the top high-end Intel enthusiast motherboard socket on the market right now. 2-3 weeks is more then enough time to do a decent review.

I had one of the EVGA X79 FTW motherboards a few months after launch (Was Trouble Shooting For Friend/Client) and I had no problem discovering/duplicating the USB port problem along with several other problems within the first day of using it. Within 7 - 10 days of trouble shooting it for a friend/client and using it regularly, I came to the conclusion the board was epic garbage. Nothing like being in the middle of an intense Starcraft 2 battle and then having your USB ports fail and random freezes! I actually used the board over a course of 7 - 10 days regularly for gaming, media consumption, etc. Between playing Starcraft 2, Supreme Commander 1 and 2, Battlefield 3, Borderlands 2 and a few other games, I experienced many crashes, freezes, intermittent USB port failures and intermittent network disconnects. Nothing like having intermittent network problems while playing multi player, especially when you are a top rated player and your teammates depend on you smile.gif

Like I wrote before "What do you think will happen if a viewer purchases that garbage board based on overclockers.com's review and then realizes the board they purchase is garbage?"

It is simple enough to delete the review or remove the approval and put pending approval and explain why it is has been updated.

I used an extreme example, yes. Old hardware is lower on the performance scale than newer hardware, so old hardware isn't near as good now, relative to other available hardware, as it was during its prime.

Every EVGA X79 board doesn't have those issues since the board tested by EarthDog didn't have any of the issues you mentioned. After the initial BIOS updates made before the review was published, the board worked perfectly outside of a random incompatibility with a specific set of RAM.

Product ratings are based on the specific sample tested by the reviewer; reviewers cannot speak for samples they haven't tested, only their one sample. So, his one sample got an Approved rating because it worked well in his 2-3 weeks of testing. Maybe he got one of the small % of boards that didn't have issues, who knows? That just proves that you can't take the experience of one user as truth, you have to get the collective story of multiple users for a full story. Just because a user doesn't have the same experience as others, doesn't mean their experience is invalid or a lie, and it doesn't mean their single experience is the truth for the entire product line.

If review sites were to go back and change their rating based on the experience of others it screws up the statistics and skews them to one side. For example, if 7 reviewers had bad experience and 3 had a good experience, that's 70% bad and 30% good. Then, if those 3 reviewers changed their rating because they read about the other 7 bad experiences, that would change it to 100% bad and 0% good. That would be a false statistic because those 3 reviewers actually had a good experience with the product.

Its not bad scaling, its because the chart scale starts at 0.8 instead of 0.

Example! (Click to show)
Notice how it starts at 10 fps while the other chart starts at 0 wink.gif

I hope that chart is made up, or I'd like to know how that 6950 went from 25 to 60fps in CF =P

Its not made up, its because I only have FEW users out of 425 users with a single 6950. So take the 6950 result with a grain of salt.tongue.gif

Average made with these system. My point was about scaling charts anyway

Compare this one now: More realistic heh, more results biggrin.gif

I always just look at specs for games I want to play take the recommended card and step up. Say the average game i wanted to play. recommended a GTX 460 I would get a 670 for today's. I don't need to look at unifier or 3d mark. I could care less. As long as I can shoot terrorists smoothly I'm fine.
