What have you started?

It doesn't matter. Once you start a fanboy war, it will not end without moderator-type intervention. Run. Turn around. And run. Do not look back.

AMD is cheap and went apepoop over cores that can't be utilized yet recently.

Intel is for current, right now, out of the box performance.

Despite what people will tell you they have nearly identical price:performance ratios, and if you pay $200 for an intel CPU, you're getting $200 of performance. Same for AMD..

What is is for?

I have an an Intel based rig for gaming and an AMD based rig for an all out server. I'm very happy with both. Both were relatively cheap.

You can look at the specs below. thumb.gif

I prefer going AMD, better price/value and I like buying stuff from the underdog.
The AMD FX-6300 cpu ($130) seems to be a good bang for the buck.

With Intel, they seem to change their CPU socket design more then AMD.
So chances are you might get might find it easier to upgrade to future AMD cpus with whatever AMD motherboard you have.

If you have lots and lots of spare cash to throw away and want performance, go Intel.

With a budget of only $650, I'm guessing your going AMD.
Check your local Craigslist, might find a good deal on a used computer.

Everyone is saying AMD, huh? lol... well i found this Intel based one ( http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7669732&CatId=4910 ) ..would it be good enough to run new games like Crysis 3, if I put in my AMD 7950 in it?
