Win7 blue screen, tracked to reg entry?

post #1 of 4

Hi,

My laptop has been blue screen crashing for a few months, i think i've narrowed the start of this problem down to a registry change i carried out, which was give to me by my Uni so i was able to access the network drives.
How do i remove/roll back this reg entry? Do i simply delete it?

the contents are as follows:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"LmCompatibilityLevel"=dword:00000001

that was all i could see when i opened the reg file in word.

Much appreciate any advice, this problem has become a big issue as i'm trying to complete my thesis

cheers Oz

If you delete the registry key/entry you run the risk of whatever it's used for to "br0ke"

Can you post the blue screen view minidump?

Thanks for the reply,

I did worry i might break something just deleting the enter, so left it as it is.
I have set up my dump collection as described in the forum, and installed blue screen view, but where do i find the dump files?

Once you open BlueScreenView, you should be able to see a list of BSOD's in order by date
