Thank you for rekindling the hate train Apple! I was getting tired of hearing how much everyone hates EA.

Really? I don't see how this is any worse than what Apple has sued for. This actually looks like it has some merit since it seems to be pretty specific about what it covers.

I still think it's stupid, but let's not act like this is somehow worse than anything Apple has tried to sue for.

If you're arguing whether thx should have even been granted the patent, then either way the blame rests entirely on the patent system.

I did mean about the patent system, not THX suing them. They took advantage of the "special" patent system, therefore they are patent trolling.

At least this patent is a real design for functionality. Not like round corners, or a slide to unlock gesture.

Apple didn't "start" it. The tech industry has been patent trolling for years and suing other companies over stupid patents that shouldn't have been granted.

^This, this and this.

Apple just got notoriety for two reasons: 1) Apple was a big enough company with a design that created a large group of Anti-Apple users and 2) They abused the patent system repeatedly in a short period of time.

Companies have been doing this for years, just maybe no single company as frequently as Apple. But if you think other large corporations are innocent and above suing another large company for petty patents that are so vague even the Cheshire Cat would be left scratching his head, you'd be in for a rude awakening.

TH from THX dont own the patents and designs he created, its owned by the company that hired him which in this case is THX itself and has every right to sue apple for infringing

exactly. when Tom Holman worked for THX he got paid for his ideas. THX filled a patent for their technology. Apple hired him. Then
files for a patent on similar technology. Lets see what the courts come up with. Why shouldn't Apple be sued? This isn't about all
iPhones and iMac this is about specific iPhone 4S and later models. After Holman started working for Apple.

Patents are just evidences of a company's boastfulness and selfishness. Patent rules should be revised.

You generalize too much. I firmly believe that you just made an assumption that a lot of companies abuse the patent system for years already. But the if I ask your right now at this instant to give me a company that sued another due to patent rules, you couldn't even give me one. I bet you would still Google first. smile.gif
