DJ Max Trilogy Windows 8?

Thread Starter
Hi OCN, first post here!

Any DJMT players around here? I've been trying to get it to work with Windows 8 for a while, I've tried every compatibility option I could think of, and it still crashes after the loading screen, right before the main menu comes up.

I'd love to switch over to Windows 8 completely, but this is the only reason tying me back to 7. Have I missed a setting somewhere? Is there a fix? Is it even compatible? I'm dying to know.

Thanks for any replies, guys!

Alright, I'm gonna need a bit more information:

Are you running on v1.32 and do you have the Korean language pack installed?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I am indeed running version 1.32. How do I check if I have the Korean language pack installed? Or rather, how do I install it? I'm guessing if I have to ask where it's found, I wouldn't have it installed.

EDIT: I have the Korean language pack installed. Just in case you need more info, I'm running Windows 8 Pro x64, not sure what else I can add that would be helpful.

Hmmm, okay so you're on the latest version and everything...when you set the compatibility mode, are you setting it for the launcher, or for the game executable directly? If you're setting it from the shortcut icon, then it's technically only setting compatibility for the launcher, and not the game itself as they're separate executables.

You can try going into your installation directory, and set compatibility for TR.exe as this is the actual game executable. Then, double click TR.exe to launch it directly, bypassing the updater.

If that doesn't work, the last thing I can think of is to try some of the third party launchers and play with the settings.

DJMTR Language tool might be able to fix it if the game is incorrectly starting in 32bit mode for some reason.

DJ Launcher
has a few useful tweaks you can mess with, though I'd be surprised if any of them fix your problem

D3DWindower will force the game to run in windowed mode.

Bear in mind that I don't have Windows 8. If all this fails, it might just be incompatible.

It works! I'm not sure why, since I don't know which change made it run.

I found that the language tool, even when run as admin, always defaulted to the 32-bit English option, so I went into the registry to try to change that. I actually didn't end up changing the language registry value of 0, but did notice that the default resolution values weren't at my native res even though the launcher tells me it was. Changing these made it work somehow?

In any case, I'm happy to be running this game again. Thanks for the help!

Did anyone manager to get DJ Launcher? Apparently it can help change the resolution as I am on 1920x1080, but the link seems to be down. Can anyone reupload it somewhere?
