Any word on a 2011 socket Mini ITX motherboard?

Thread Starter
I have been looking around and have not found anything that shows one is in production or even thought about. I really want to setup a mini ITX build but don't want to sacrifice losing my 3930k. If anyone has any feeds or news related to a mini ITX socket 2011 board, that would be awesome! =D

I highly doubt you'll ever see one, seeing how the socket has been out for over a year now.

ITX boards don't sell very well, let alone LGA 2011 boards.

AMD Motherboard makers didn't even bother to make a single 990FX MATX or Mini-ITX board so I doubt there will be a LGA2011 Mini-ITX board, the socket would be too large and you need do something really tricky( a VRM daughter board + a push-pull 120mm Rad CLC) to get enough VRM and cooling for a 130W TDP CPU.

Plus you lose:

Quad Channel memory: there is no room for 4 memory slot pm a Mini-ITX board

40 PCIE Lanes: there will be only room for 1 16X PCIE 3.0 slot, Most of the other 24 Lane will be wasted.

Not to mentioned the size of LGA2011 socket, and power requirements. It will require some serious engineering and layout works to make it possible.

The smallest motherboard for your 3930K can be found in this Shuttle Barebones Kit - link to newegg.

It isn't an ITX motherboard as it is larger. but it does have 2 PCI-E slots [albeit right next to each other]. Some PSU cable modding would be necessary if you plant to use a standard ATX PSU.

Fruerguaard has a build log which transplants that motherboard and loads it with a TON of goodies in a prodigy.

I hope that i was able to help you on your quest in some way.

This is actually very awesome! I must have missed this build log for some reason. I will be getting in contact with them right away to see how the board functions for them on an everyday basis as I don't trust most of the reviews on Newegg. thumb.gif
