Thread Starter
Just curious, I have an Asus ROG Maximus V Gene which i noticed have that dedicated premium (?) sound chip that even has this cool red LED strip lighting but am wondering if there will be a huge difference when i use a discrete sound card like the Phoebus. My speakers setup is a Logitech Z906

I doubt you have a dedicated "Premium" sound chip, more like a Realtek ALC898?
(which some people are fairly happy with)
Is it worth upgrading to the Asus Phoebus? I have no idea.

Try posting your Phoebus questions here.

It is it's own little sound card as far as I can tell. I have tried researching this in the past. There is so much advertisement, that it prevents you from finding any real information.

I can say this and that some of the creative drivers/software works with it, so I would gather that it has some type of creative ship in rather than realtek.

IDK if that is true or not.....just an observation.

I CAN however say there is a real benefit from a dedicated sound card. There is a lot of interference that the supreme FX III still picks up which is the main reason I like to upgrade, because that interference is what starts to make my ears ring and in turn will give me headaches.
