it was just an idea. we need to refine it for sure, to make sure a devoted ocn boincer is included.

Well it's not like it'd be specifically discriminating against you Tex tongue.gif

I like the idea of 5 total, and instead of last three, do something like 3 of the past 5 or having donated a prize.

I like the new credit tiers that gamer came up with.

Also like the at least 1 BGB out of last 3 for 100$ prize. Maybe add at least a combined total of 25 million credit?

For 200$+ Prizes I am fine with 5+ BGBs. Maybe set it to where you need minimum 5 BGBs and have participated in minimum 2 of last 5.... We rarely get prizes in this range and they really should go to the dedicated BOINCers.

Dang. 25 million would throw a lot of us out, including myself and I've been crunching since last May.. Having that high a requirement would restrict the prizes completely to the top 75 or so. But for the 200+, I can agree with that definitely.

Ya know, great minds think alike.
I was going to suggest that if a username contained the letter D and if your username contained multiple instances of the letter D it would increase your chances to win the lanyard, where if your username contained the letter O, you would be barred from winning said prize.

Well, i do agree there must be "special" tiers for higher ended prizes, but i suggest it to be a more customized/flexible thing.

For equipment that can produce points (like GPU's) i feel there should be a requirement of at least 5 BGB's, and 15-20m points total. That really confirms someone's dedication to the team, and also helps to make sure said piece of hardware will help the winner (and the team) in future BGB's instead of just going with a fixed amount of BGB's (someone might have under 5 mil by BOINCing just for the minimum prizes but as he has attended 5+ BGB's he wins a GPU which won't be used for BOINC).

Cash prizes could be adjusted with a requirement of at least 5 BGB's, or 15-20m points total.

For stuff that would not help PPD, BOINC or the team, we could go with 10-15m points requirement or 3-5 BGB's on your belt. Those requirements, while substantial aren't as aggressive as it isn't such a vital piece of hardware.

I think starbomba brings up a good point, flexibility. I really like the or stipulation as it adds differing criteria.

As the winner of the 7870 from bgb 23 (received paypal for value) I actually spent even more than what I won and got a 7950. That card has been crunching basically 24/7 since i received it, heck I even built an entire rig for the card. My point is, The gpu prizes should go to those who really are going to use them for the BOINC team. 2cents.gif
