I'd love a Nexus 5 if the rumours are true...But the lack of an SD Card is just utterly annoying to me, unless we get a 64GB model for a decent price.

Not sure about PA, but i know AOKP tends to use some CM device trees on non-aosp phones, as well as tracking a few CM packages (on the US GS3 for example).

I can't speak for PA as i never looked into them, but do they create his own device tree for each non-aosp device they support?

AOKP does use (or at least starts) with a CM device tree for a lot of devices (mainly for how well CM does device trees), and on the US GS3, AOKP even tracks some CM packages.

I am not trying to pit rom dev team against dev team, or diminish any rom/group in anyway, just trying to get some facts out there.

AFAIK PA only has official development for Nexus devices. Any non-AOSP devices are maintained by independent devs/teams.

"We're leaving CyanogenMod and start anew on AOSP. I've already explained before, in short: AOSP is optimized for our devicefamily, it's the best base for nexus devices hands down. We'll be free of the modifications and changes that we dont support and we'll not suffer from the endless nightly process that will always make releasing a gamble.

If they pass on it so what? There have been many phones without support from CM at the get go (S-ON HTC phones) and they all eventually get a stable release and a few nightlies from CM or the dev community takes over and ports/mods other ROMs that are equal to or better than CM offerings. CM, IMO, sucks by its self. It is the dev community's mods to the CM base that makes a ROM.

This. Even if it doesnt get official CM support (CM isnt that amazing..) then it will get ported by someone at some point, and while thats happening there will be a TON of custom roms for the S4. Even if it isnt the best phone for the first half of the year, it will have the most sales, and thats where most of the developers go, because sales= popularity= potential donations.
Im surprised this type of spin title was posted from an android site, I wouldnt be surprised if I saw it on Engadget or somewhere else that has motives.
