Pushing 1.528v on the cpu using the Rampage IV Extreme won't hurt it's VRMs at all imho. Plus add to the fact the OP is running HT off, so that's less power right there.

I don't think the chip would die in a year, degrading over time is always a possibility, but only running a few hours a night I doubt it would happen quickly.

1500w isn't even enough for some 4x gpu setups with high overclocks.

Also, usually the chip will just degrade first and not be a good over-clocker anymore, so do you have to wait until the chip completely dies before you send it in? I guess that would be easy to do, just send 1.7v through it. I guess I don't see how Intel would know either way.

Pretty sure the protection plan is a one time no questions asked return. I don't think the chip needs to be dead to exchange it under the plan.

Did you set them manually to their default values? If you left them on auto they are probably going crazy at those clock speeds. As someone else said you just really want to watch VTT and VCCSA and make sure they don't go over 1.2.

Problem solved? If it does go, then you will get a new one. So you would have a cpu for more than a year. Might not be that exact one but you know...
(On the other hand I think your CPU has a high chance of making it, roll a dice and compare it to the weather on a random day of the week and you have your answer.)

Damn, would love to get that tuning plan, but I used IC Diamond 7 on my CPU and it apparently knocks the serial off the CPU so I can't return it. :'(

Ya, plus my VRM's are on water blocks I think they will be fine.

Thanks for the input FTW. You know what is funny, my Antec HCP-1200 which is known to be a beast has handled 1500+ watts fine (pulled 1875 from the wall) with a highly overclocked 990X / Quad 580 system of mine a few years ago. Surely the NEX1500 even on 110v circuit can handle my 3960X-Tri/Quad Titan system?

Ya, they were on auto and about 1.35v each. Sin's SB-E guide said those are good up to 1.4v on water. With that degrade the chip a lot quicker? I just set them to manual 1.3v each to test that out.

Ya, I am definitely considering the plan as $35 is nothing in the grand scheme of things. What I really can't get an answer to is how Intel would be able to tell the chip was overclocked/volted and turn it in for replacement via the regular warranty instead of the purchase plan. Is the purchase plan just a quicker/easier/less questions asked way to get the replacement?
