Happy but strange USB 3.0 file transfer

Thread Starter
I have a desktop:
I5-750 4GHz
8 GB 1600 MHz memory
MSI P55-GD85 Motherboard
7200 RPM Mechanical drive

I just received my new Sager 9150 laptop:
H77 Chipset
I7 2.4Ghz
16 GB 1600 MHz memory.
7200 RPM Mechanical drive

Here is the weird thing or am I missing something?
I have a SanDisk Cruze 2.0 16 GB USb flash drive. When I transfer files on my desktop in a USB 3.0 port, I get transfer speeds of 30 MB per second rate; but if I use the same flash drive on my Sager 9150 I transfer files at almost 85 MB per second. I am very happy but a bit perplexed on the speed difference.
What is causing the different speed transfer? Could it be internal bus speeds?

It may also be the quality of the USB 3.0 chipset/driver. I recall Tom's Hardware did some benchmark on 3rd party USB 3 chipsets (before Intel's processors/chipsets supported them), and they had varying transfer speed.
