That's a good hunch. It's looking like a hardware issue.

Yeah, I think we have a winner - I just tried as rageofthepeon suggested and I think he hit the nail on the head. Both cards failed immediately when running in the second PCIe slot.

Thanks for all your help guys - looks like my motherboard is goosed. Semi-good news to be honest, I'd rather replace the mobo than a GPU in terms of cost.

Still, what a bugger.

Glad you got it figured out. When I had issues with artifacts and crashes it turned out the new GPU was the culprit redface.gif.

Good luck with new motherboard.

...ok, this gets weirder and weirder.

So I'm back to single card, top slot. Stock clocks = perfect operation. ANY overclock at all, instant failure.

Edit: Nope, lied again. Just tried stock clocks in Crysis 3 and it crashed the second I got in game. No idea what on Earth is going on...

Hmmm....I only use AB to monitor usage in-game. I'm sure TSM would be able to help on that front but is there any way you could try just removing AB and using CCC and report back?

When you crashed did it give any kind of error report in windows event viewer?

Barring either of those ideas maybe motherboard/psu in general is just failing at this point. If you have any friends you can swap parts with to test that would be good or order from Amazon with their 30 day return policy as a last resort for testing.

Edit: You are running stock volts, right?

Edit 2: Are you running P8P67 PRO BIOS 3602 along with latest motherboard chipsets?

Well, by crash I mean the screens go black but audio continues to play. Event Viewer throws an error when I attempt to start it;

I'll be amazed if it's the PSU - it's almost brand new from Corsair. Interestingly enough my previous AX1200 died and this is the replacement.

This is completely bizarre - before attempting to use the cards in PCIe slot 2 they would both happily run in Unigine Valley at stock clocks until I quit out. Now, black screen.

Ugh!

Added some edits above but also thought of mentioning doing a clean uninstall / reinstall of drivers after removing AB.

Edit: I did some research on that error you get from trying to check event viewer and this is what I get.

First I would mark the cards if they are identical.

First part, skip the overclocking till you have this current issue nailed down.

Second part, did you confirm this happens with each card? Are we still under the premise that one of your slots is bad?

A test you can run is by enabling Overdrive and reducing the clocks as far as it will go. Then re-test C3 or x game, etc. Does it still crash?

Thanks dude - I did as you suggested, updated my BIOS and chipset drivers (and yes, I'm running stock volts). No change.

It's happening with both cards, however if I try your last suggestion of enabling overdrive and lowering the clocks to 300/150, it doesn't crash. Obviously I get like 1fps, but the screen doesn't go black.
