When is hardware buying season?

I don't have that much cash and even if I do, I always try to get the best deal for my money.

The thing that I hate the most is when I finally get around to buying something because I thought it was the best price for performance item, some company releases a new product... which in turn should have lowered the price of the item I just bought.

The question I now have is;

When is hardware buying season?

Like for example.... Video cards normally get released lets say..... christmas.... so buy video cards maybe january or feb when the effects of the new video cards have sinked into retail stores and have lowered the price of your target video card.

in my experience tech gets released at its peak price, and then usually drifts down in price over time then the replacements get released at the peak price. The older version doesnt go much lower, it jusst disapears.

some notable exceptions, Intel CPUs dont seem to go down and new cpus are priced the same as the old cpus.

HDD's went up after thailand floods

GPUs are getting some value add (like games) so discounting isnt needed as much to stimulate sales.

Games are very seasonal and are heavily discounted during the holidays like thanksgiving. Good for us in NZ as well as I buy from Steam then.
