I know you asked for a mobo but I would rethink that CPU choice. It's not the best if you want to watercool and heavily OC as it has a locked multi. Also unless you do tasks needing 6 cores it wont be vastly faster than what you have (which generally speaking shouldn't be bottlenecking any current single GPU solution).

If you really want to upgrade get a decent AM3+ board (gigabyte 990xa-ud3 or above) and throw a FX6300 or FX 8320/50 in it.

Totally agree with you, but his question was on mobo alone...

As I am a resident of another continent, knowing about Newegg is pretty amazing on itself. I make my suggestions based on the fact that many people here buy from them, and on my experience (and expertise) on hardware.

This is an arguable point, as there are a number of great AM3 boards, but the best all around IMO is the Sabertooth.

I second this. I love my Saberkitten.

I'm considering upgrading to the 8350, I only have a 4170 but I've still been able to run everything I want at 1920 x 1080 maxed with my 670.
Though I'm not playing Crysis 3 or anything, lol.

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3

AMD FX-8320 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285

A little over at $313

If the 300 or under is a hard limit then use this CPU

AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286

With the mobo that would be $278

Either is IMO a better choice than multi locked PhII 1045T

I'm guessing very very few program take advantage of an 8 core cpu, save a few dollars and get the FX-6300 6-core.
AMD FX-6300, $134
The Gigabyte 970A-UD3 (AM3+) motherboard, $114
Total $248

I was able to get a slightly used AMD FX-4170 (4.1Ghz 4-core) off eBay for $88

I would say to buy memory too, 8GB (2X4GB) 2000Mhz or 2133Mhz, but nothing is on sale right now.
