Depends on the architecture of the chips but 99% of the time 2ghz x 32cores is more than enough. Any amount of cores can get big points from bigadv units if they can complete them within the deadline. The minimum as of now to complete a bigadv unit is a 3930k @ 4.8ghz.

 

There's too much to factor in when aiming for 300k.... cores, architecture, speed. The cheapest route to 300k would be 6x gtx580s, AMD 4P w/ 6128s, or Intel E5 2P w/ 2650s

Are those points for the 6128 from bigadv?

You could get more computing power from a bunch of AM3 systems at ~$1200, but as far as I can see they wont get close to 150k points.

Does bigadv give a very large point bonus since one 4P system kan get that high?

Bigadv has a QRB (Quick Return Bonus) but I'm not sure the exact amount but I know it's pretty high.

correct, but it would take 6x 7970s to hit 300k ppd for about $1,800-$2,100. That's also not figuring in the cost of another motherboard and cpu to run more than 4 GPUs. You could run all 6x 7970s if your board has 6x pci slots but they would need to be watercooled and need 2x psu's..... 2P/4P is still a better solution.

Es or not wouldn't change the point of the conversation..... The OP was about 1 million and then it switched to just 300k ppd. Either way the best option for $$$$ would still be a 2P or 4P, ES or retail.
