The whole point of a console was that you could take it to your friend's house and hook it up without having to worry about "logging in" or having constant internet connection. Besides, if the whole simcity fiasco isn't an indication that all always on DRM does is hurt consumers, what chance does it have? It's just going to hurt it's reputation.

If this is the case, I will not by a Xbox. I had one red ring on mine, so I took out the hard drive and put it in the new one. Now, any off the content that was purchased on the old drive, I have to be online to be able to access or play. It's horrible. Even though it's not directly related, you would think they would learn from EA, and hear how much people dislike always online games or software. I honestly hate online only stuff. NEVER works out for the consumer.

Making the consumer happy ended with the ability for the console to play next-gen games. That is what you are paying for.

How you play them is entirely up to MS and has NOTHING to do with the consumer.

This is what they are offering. And regardless of online DRM, people WILL be buying this console. A lot of people. If the gaming industry depended on the people of OCN to make a profit, sure it would fail. But we are the minority.

Most ppl will do whatever MS (or any other publisher for that matter) TELLS THEM that they have to do in order to play their games.

If that means always online and DRM, then that's what is going to happen. People are going to have to accept that. And for the most part are accepting it, at least in my eyes.

The SimCity fiasco died when they offered a free game. That was enough for most people out there to get over it. Always Online and DRM is going NO WHERE. Look beyond the what is right in front of your eyes and into what the industry is actually trying to accomplish here.

Of course they know DRM is going to piss people off. This didn't stop them from implementing it, though.

SimCity was a win for EA. Not a loss. Think about it.

If true, the next gen console of choice will be pretty obvious.
if MS were to do that they may as well hand Sony the console race on a silver platter, you do know before sony said they were not doing it the same rumors were running rampant about the ps4 rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

Good think I'm a PC gamer and not a console gamer, otherwise I might actually have to give two squirts about this and refuse to buy it. As such, I don't even have to do that much. thumb.gif

Dumb move on Microsoft's part, but then again, they have been doing a LOT of dumb things lately.

There goes taking my console on vacation where I can't take my computer or have no internet connection. Xbox360 is probably the last console I will own. I don't even play that anymore. Almost all the games I have for the Xbox I got on my PC now and learn to like them using a PC 360 controller. A lot more control for me.

Man. This sucks. I use to take my Xbox to get-togethers with friends and kids. It's fun when a lot of people get together to play Halo.

Hopefully MS learned a lesson from EA's backlash on the Always-Online games. They think they can do things without listening to their customers suggestions. It will bite them in the rear if MS thinks they won't lose customers.
