[toms] BenQ Releases 27-inch FullHD GW2760HS Thin Bezel Monitor - Page 11

Except when companies refuse to release new products, that are better, the market stagnates. What you end up with is the current LCD market, which hasn't changed much over the years, especially when compared to the advancement of other technology.

Heck, look at cell phone displays over the same time period.

Agreed.

In fact, I agree with most things you've been saying recently postal. I can't say that's always been the case, but recently everything I've seen you say has been logically sound despite being surrounded by completely nonsense posts by others.

My entire point is that this news post is addressed to OCN. It isn't addressed to the sheep mass market who buy ipad tablets. Don't you get that? The news post isn't really warranted here - this screen is nothing special. Certainly nothing worthy of the high end audience of OCN. Now, if it had high end gaming features such as lightboost 120hz combined with 1200p resolution, sure - i'd be all about it. But this? Not newsworthy IMO.

If you see a blog post on bestbuy.com about this monitor, feel free to post this kind of thing. There, your attitude would be warranted. Here? Not so much. Again. This monitor news is being addressed to OCN and my context has always been about that. Why should we be interested in this monitor? Truth is, as i've said many times, there is NOTHING SPECIAL about it - It's a 1080p 60hz monitor among millions of low resolution 1080p 27 inch monitors..

If this was at all in reference to my post, I'm certainly not against companies releasing higher resolution monitors and pushing technology forward.

However, some in this thread seem to have a problem if a company releases a product that doesn't push technology forward, which is outright silly, because new products that don't necessarily destroy the competition are released in just about every market all the time. Company X releases a new $50 pair of headphones, or a new feature phone, or a tablet, and nobody rages because it's not up to their standards. People are just using this opportunity to vent about how there are not more higher resolution monitors out there in a thread about a product that obviously was not marketed toward that consumer.

Pfttt, just another 16:9 display. 21:9 is where it's at you luddite corporations.

p.s. I am being flippant if no one caught that. thumb.gif

p.p.s. 21:9 is super sweet though.

p.p.p.s. Seriously, going back to 16:9 now is like 16:9 users trying to go back to 4:3. It burns us.

Yeah....I get it. Yet several people on this very forum, in this very thread, have stated they like their 27" 1080p monitors. How interesting that this could've occurred on an OCN forum. The height of computing technology elites. How very interesting that they don't tow the "OCN line".

Are their "OCN Sheep"????

Can you conform to the "non-conformists"?

Interesting questions.

People aren't clones whether you try to put them in boxes and make them out to be or not. And whether they are happy with the product they like and don't want to look any further or not doesn't make them a sheep. It makes you and people like you an elitist. Grow up. Like what you like and leave others to do the same. The market doesn't care about you yet. When the masses of "sheep" like what you like, we'll get the precious 1440p. That's how it works. Get over it.

Get over it.

The point those of us looking down on this display are trying to make has gone completely over your head....

Even if you don't like 1440P and are OK with 1080P, you are wrong to think that innovation in the 1440P market won't impact your 1080P market. The LCD market is completely stagnate, and has been for years, and frankly, close to a decade. In the last 10 years the LCD market hasn't advanced but at a snails pace, when every other tech market has exploded and ran circles around them.

Look at it this way...

If a monitor manufacturer were to step up their game, and start using better quality panels, at higher resolutions, it would force the others to step up their game to stay competitive. This would translate to improvement across all product and price points, not just at the 1440P+ level. People would be able to purchase better 1080P LCD's as well. Displays that user newer panel tech that provides better color detail, better viewing angles, better response times, etc etc. Who in their right mind, that uses 1080P, would say no to a better picture quality in color depth and clarity?

Those of us speaking out in this thread aren't speaking out just over this one display, but the entire industry. It is frustrating to see companies, especially one like Ben-Q, putting out another display that is using decade old technology, with decade old specs.

For god sake, Ben-Q is supposed to be a major gaming enthusiast brand, they sponsor a ton of pro teams from Star Craft to League of Legends. Yet they refuse to release a ground breaking display that just stomps all over the competition. If there wasn't a market for what we are asking for, then you wouldn't have seen 3 little sellers on eBay just explode their business with exporting of the Catleaps and Shimians. You wouldn't have seen Skribbles start his own company (Overlord) and start selling these type of panels.

If Ben-Q, Dell, Samsung, or any other display manufacturer were to drop on the market right now a 1200P 24" 120Hz IPS, with the option of glossy or AG. They would be sold out instantly, they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock.

The market is ready, has been for awhile, and wanting a new display tech.

^ AMEN!

Heck, I'm still using my 5 year old BenQ 2ms 1920x1200 because there really just hasn't been any compelling reason to upgrade.

Make a 27" high resolution display, with a thin bezel, VESA mount, low response time, premium panel, and nice on-screen controls priced at $500 - $600 and you have my money.
This bezel? I don't think I'd consider that thin. I think that is why I don't like milti-monitor gaming...the bezels annoy me.

I want a monitor like my phone's screen...it pretty much goes all the way to the edge.
