My iMac is 2560x1440 and I want even more than that. I can easily tell the difference in pixel density between this iMac and my retina MBP, for example this text I'm typing now looks blurry and jagged compared to a 200+ PPI screen. Now, it is true that I sit too close to my iMac but I'm just too used to the display taking up almost my entire field of vision to give it up now. tongue.gif

I fit into that category, and would much rather use a ~24 inch 1080p panel than a 27".

$350 is too expensive for a 1080p monitor regardless of the bezel size.

i have to agree with you at that point. I too have worked with a retina side by side with my iMac and the Retina 15 is incredibly sharp in OS X. Text looks absolutely razor sharp w/ no jaggies. Luckily i didnt use the Retina long enough to get spoiled. tongue.gif It's a shame that Office 2011 looks terrible (Maybe they patched it since..?) on the Retina lol

that said, back to semi-on topic: my 23" is 1080p. I cant imagine moving 4" up and still be at the same res. its just not nice, nor really practical unless the person's vision is poor.

This discussion\argument has been going on forever -

If you don't see the value or benefits to paying more for a 1920x1200 or a 2560x1440 monitor, then you haven't used one. The only people saying 1080 is "just fine" haven't gamed at higher resolutions.

I understand not everybody can afford the hardware necessary to max a game like Crysis 3 or FC 3 at huge resolutions, but don't jump in a thread and proclaim 1080 is the way to go, especially in a forum like this where there are a lot of tech-savvy users.

Do a honest side by side comparison of Crysis 3 at 1080, then at 1920x1200, then at 2560x1440 - if you still think 1080 is the way to go then I'm honestly happy and slightly envious of you, since you have so many monitors to choose from at that resolution.

All I am saying is for those of us who want high resolution LCD's with low response time, the pickings are slim. Fact...

This isn't even 120hz.

It's also 1080p. Excuse me while I barf. I'll pass on a 2007 resolution, it's not even 120hz on top of that. A 60hz 1080p panel. Disgusting.

1080p on a 27 inch is unsightly. Furthermore, it is made worse in every way by the horrible colors of TN and poor viewing angles. No thanks. It's time for panel makers to leave crap 1080p where it belongs: in 2007.

Second that! 27" is too big for 1080p. I think my 25" is even too big.

The design is nice, I like it.

I hate it break it to you, but VA panels have the same problems that TN panels do. Bad colors, Poor color accuracy and poor viewing angles.

This is 1080p *AND* 60hz. Completely and utterly worthless.

I could see an argument for 120hz , even if I would always take a 2560x1440 panel over 120hz. But with this being 60hz, I think most here would agree : 100% worthless monitor. Now I would never buy it but the 120hz people would want the XL2720T. Now that will be a pretty good monitor for those who want 120hz: It's a bigger update to the excellent 2420XL.

fair enough, but still not a TN panel as you called it.

I got my Dell S2440L Glossy with Glass VA panel screen not long ago and I was in shock. The blacks are awesome and the colors just wow. Color seems "alive" on glossy. The blacks inky the whites more pure and finaly the text is no longer blurry thus is easier for the eyes to read without feeling dizzy. They deffinately need to produce more glossy monitors. And VA has better blacks than IPS although you lose the viewing angles of IPS but from the other side you will never game on extreme angles or smth.
