Honestly, the i5-3570K is a damned good chip and holds up well to overclocking. I can see possibly going to Socket 2011, but the i5-3570K is more than enough for 3D Modeling, gaming, and rendering, even non-overclocked.

It should be more than sufficient for his purposes for the time being, and if he feels the need to upgrade, he can wait until the Haswells come out.

I've produced a few Eng drawings i had to zoom in a bit to get the angles to show properly though.

I've noticed some of the measurements are off due to poor tolerances.

I was thinking on using 14swg mild steel for the frame and possible 1mm thick AL6061 aluminium?

Frame weighs roughly 13Kg and the Insert roughly 18Kg.

I've checked the centre of gravity and it seems to be central.

Keep these until Haswell comes out. You really can't do much better without spending an obscene amount of money.

Not bad. I'd go up to the GTX 670 and SLI it, though.

More than enough juice. If it has modular cabling, keep it. If not, get one that does.

I've decided to make the main section from 12mm plexiglass. the area in front of the divider will be clear and from the divider back where a lot of cables and the PSU shall reside is going to be coloured. going to make the colour corespond with what ever lighting i decide to go with.

This is also going to have a massive weight increase so it looks like I'm going to have to re-do the design for the frame.

i see a potential problem here :

but its easily fix like this :

or as close as those 2 supports could get , without ruin your idea/design

ah , another consideration , the height of the desk smile.gif dont forget that

Yeah, think I'm going to have to rethink a lot of the main frame as I've decided to change the aluminium insert with a plexiglass one. However, the added weight is going to be a quite a lot so a lot of added supports are going to be needed if i keep the same design.
