Patriot Viper 3 Venom red with problems ?

someone who got a 8gb kit said this:

you'll have to play with voltages on your motherboard if you want them to run at the advertised 2133 MHz speed without frequent crashes. Some motherboards don't have access to the voltage setting that must be changed (VCCIO) Like mine, so in those cases you'd have to run the RAM at 2000 MHz, which Only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is that it doesn't work very well as advertised

what could be the problem?

no one?

Make sure the CPU can support DDR3-2133. If not, you must raise CPU memory controller voltage, otherwise you have to run the memory at what the CPU can do.. DDR3-2000, DDR3-1866, DDR3-1600, so on..

but Ivy bridge/haswell minimum uses like native 1600

Correct, but what is maximum? K series and X (Extreme) series CPU can do DDR3-2133+, but all the other ones may not. So if you want DDR3-2133+, you need to get K series or Extreme series Intel CPU and it should have no problem.

Cheers!
