I answered, but then I realized you were talking about the SB-E version of the Silver Arrow and not the original, which I have, so I felt that I may have been giving you bad information -- but what I did say was that for me it was about 153mm of distance required from the upper surface of the CPU to the inside of the case side panel.

My first case was a CM 690 II Advanced, and I really wanted to get the SA, but was not sure that it would fit. So I went to Micro Center with a tape measure, where they had one on display, and took measurements, factoring in that the motherboard would be on standoffs, and the CPU in the socket, which would be a few mm to subtract. It looked really close, but I still was not 100% certain it would fit. Eventually I found a review for the SA at XbitLabs where they actually laid out the dimensions of the cooler graphically, and that gave me a better idea. It looked like there'd only be 2-3mm of clearance at the most, and that was how it eventually turned out... almost touched the window, but it fit I've got a HAF-X now (ended up needing a little more room for an E-ATX board than the 690 II could provide), so clearance is no longer an issue.

But none of this probably helps answer your question any -- unless the approach I took would also work for you (get the width of the case, subtract mabye 3mm for the thickness of the side panels, subtract mabye 3/8" for the height of the CPU surface mounted in the socket with the motherboard on standoffs, and see if you can compare what you have left with the actual height of the towers for the two coolers you are interested in, if the manufacturers or a review somewhere has that information).

Phantek PH-TC14PE is almost the same dimension as NH-D14 except the front heatsink is bigger, as long as you use low profile ram it should fit fine.

Found the Anandtech Tempest 410 review, 170mm HSF clerance means that as long as you use Rams that's shorter than 30nm PH-TC14PE will fit fine.

no, thank I prefer to use memories measued in centimeters biggrin.gif,

now I dont think phanteks worth to place more short rams bcuz it reduces 1 or 2 degrees tongue.gif

Here's a list I made up some time ago
Quote:
Twin tower ooler size comparison (Width x Depth x Height looking from front of case with motherboard laying flat)
K2 . . . . . .= . . . . 8x 6mm pipes 140x128x158mm 146x154x160mm w/ 120mm & 140mm PWM fans 43.2mm*
D14 . . . . .= . . . . 6x 6mm pipes 140x130x160mm 140x158x160mm w/ only 2011 has PWM fans 44mm*
TC14 . . . . .= . . . 5x 8mm pipes 140x134x160mm 140x159x171mm w/fans, PWM adaptor included 40-45mm*
Silver Arrow . = . . 4x 8mm pipes 147x123x163mm 151x149x168mm w/Fans 40.87mm*
SA SB-E . . . .= . . 8x 6mm pipes 155x105x164mm 170x130x170mm w/ 140mm & 150mm PWM fans 31.9/39/46mm**
SA SB-E Extreme . 8x 6mm pipes 155x105x164mm 155x130x165mm w/fans Reason it's smaller is 140mm fan vs 150mm fan.
HE01 . . . . .= . . . 6x 6mm pipes 140x119c160mm w/ 140x38mm PWM fan
Dark Rock Pro .= . 7x 6mm pipes 133x124x166mm 133x149x166mm w/ 120mm & 135mm PWM fans
*cooler base to bottom fin. (add 8mm for motherboard to bottom fin.)
**fins are at 3 different levels

K2, D14 & TC14 are about same except for TC14 140mm fans & 31mm RAM clearance stack up to 171mm (my R2 is 165mm clearance and TC14 fits)

SB-E is widest by 15mm. Even wider with TY-150 fan = 170.

my problem is 154 mm from TR SA SB-E, it is too much compared to 140mm form NHD14, I barely could move fan on nh d14 with some effort in a m-ATX mobo but I would get something like Z77 extreme4
